What’s In It For You: VOLUNTEERS Without volunteers we would have nothing. The Baturyn Hall, the playground, the new Castlebrook playground and all the events, happenings, services and facilities have come about through the initiative, energy and hard work of volunteers. This is the opportunity you've been waiting for, to meet a new bunch of people into the same things as you. It's also a great way to get some new skills and new experience and share your knowledge toward a great community.

Baturyn Community League Volunteer Policy

Bingos and Casinos are the major fundraising for the Community League. Without it, we would have to increase your child’s sports registration fees immensely. As a Community League we are obligated to pay many expenses that impact our hall and programs. To name a few: insurance for both our facility and program participants, utilities, maintenance, referees, umpires, uniforms and equipment.

Baturyn Executive has updated the Volunteer Policy to ensure greater participation in fundraising for the programs that they provide to you.

We require an $200.00 UNDATED cheque payable to Baturyn Community League or BCL per each registration. Your deposit will be returned once you have completed your volunteer duty.

Here is the process for committing to the Volunteer Component of the Baturyn Sports Programs.

1. When you sign up for the Volunteer Activity please make note of the date. It is not our responsibility to be reminding you. It is yours!

• We will call 1 week prior to date to confirm you will be attending. We will only make 1 call or leave a message

• We need confirmation within 24 hours. If you have not returned the call to confirm, we will assume you won’t be at your Volunteer sign-up date and we will cover with alternate people; your cheque will be given to the Treasurer to cash.

• Baturyn has a financial commitment to the Bingo Hall for a set number of people and we could lose our Bingos if this is not met, impacting our ability to deliver programs to you.

2. Any Person not showing up for their assigned Volunteer date will be required to leave a $200.00 deposit for future registrations which will be cashed immediately and returned to you once your responsibility is fulfilled within the current Season.

3. If your cheque has been NSF you will not be able to enroll your child into a program until you have made good on your cheque in CASH.

4. It is your responsibility to cover your Volunteer duty. You may have someone on your behalf who is capable to do the volunteer activity/ position as long as they are 18 years or older.

5. If you are unable or unwilling to work a bingo, please notify us at registration time. We will request you give us a current signed, dated cheque of $200 which we will cash.

6. We can make adjustments to your volunteer sign up as long as two weeks notice is given.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE OR REVOKE REGISTRATION IN ANY OF BATURYN’S PROGRAMS

Current Volunteer Requirements

  • Security for Rock The Square. Contact Arek Arek via e-mail for info.
  • Ice Maintainers: "As you know, we have had teams using the ice for practice in the years past. This year, unfortunately, we don't have community-based teams, but we would still like to be able to have the ice for others to use. Tim Sharon and I would like to have a list of volunteers who would help take care of the ice, once it has been put in by a second party. This would include flooding the ice, scraping it when used and of course, removing snow when it is a considerable amount. The community is currently fixing all of the equipment and getting some more, to make the job that much easier." - From Willy Lauder, our Rink Manager.
