Baturyn Rink Closed for Season
The warm stretch of weather before the snowfall took a toll on our ice, and unfortunately, much of it didn’t survive. After assessing the current conditions, our volunteers have made the tough decision that the ice is too far gone to save for the short time left in the season.
We know this is disappointing for those hoping to get a few more skates in. A huge thank you to our volunteers for all the time and effort they’ve put in this season to build and maintain the rink, we couldn’t do it without you!
We’re also still looking for a Rink Manager for next season. If you’re interested, please email president@baturyn.ca.
Newcastle Rink
The snowbank rink still open for skating (in ok condition). Click below for the location to help you find it easily.
There are no set hours, but we kindly ask everyone to respect neighborhood quiet time after 9:30 PM so we can all enjoy the space responsibly. This is an unsupervised rink, so please skate with care, look out for one another, and stay safe.

To purchase, contact our Rink Manager below, or visit our rink concession when it opens for the season. Each bag is $25 for about 20kg.
⚠️ Avoid using on new concrete (less than 12 months old).

Volunteer Ice Crew
The Baturyn Rink Rats are looking for volunteers to help make it all happen. Whether you’re an old pro at rink work or just want to be part of something fun and community-driven, we’d love to have you on the team.
Ways to Volunteer:
• Make the Ice: Help with flooding and maintaining smooth, skateable ice.
• Supervise the Rink Shack: Keep the shack open so skaters can warm up, use the restrooms, and enjoy a safe, welcoming space.
• Socialize by the Fire: Bring a chair, sip hot cocoa, and chat with neighbors by the firepit.
